Problems with Truckin’ Bozo Show

We were hoping that it would not come to this, but we are having problems getting on Truckin’ Bozo to talk about “Road Dogs on Hogs”. Every time someone calls in either Richie wont let them o air, or they get cut off. At this point we are not sure if it is Bozo, or Richie. Richie has made the comment to a couple of people that it is his show and he runs it and will allow who he wants on air.

What we are asking is that you email Sirius/XM, call Customer support or David Goreab and complain about this. All the other shows allows us to talk about “Road Dogs on Hogs”, so why not “Truckin’ Bozo”?

Dave Goreab’s number is 212-584-5235. You can email Sirius at www.sirius.com/customercare and thier phone number is 888-539-7474. And you can emal Bozo at bozo@truck.net

Thank you,

Road Dogs on Hogs Song

Buzzard and White Rose have been talking to Colonel Robert Morris about his writing a song about our little group. What we need from someone in the group, is someone that is good with graphic art to create the insert to go along with the CD. If you know of anyone that is willing to donate their time to create this for us please have them get in touch with Buzzard or White Rose.

Email from Carl P

DSC02644 DSC02645

As many of you know, the Road Dogs on Hogs sent a package to Carl P after we returned from Sturgis. That package included the shirt that Slider had made and we all signed, an American Flag from the PGR’s Field of Rememberance, and a RDOH patch. The following email was sent to Buzzard to pass along to the rest of us.

Buzzwad:

i want to reach out to you and our brothers and sisters and tell you that of all the rewards, broadcast career awards, the exciting things and exotic places i’ve been able to experience as a member of the radio community/media, the many gold, platinum albums hangin’ on the walls of my studio and home, along with other perks one in my position receives just because i can help make or break a career. I want you know how you touched me with your goodness and that all the swag I’ve collected over the years from the phonies on music row comes close to what ya’ll did for me without expecting something in return. when it comes to the music industry they don’t shower others or me with goodies because I’m a good man or any kind of hero. nope, my butt has been kissed by anybody making records in nashville coming up on almost 4 decades simply because I’ve been in the position to help the suits on music row make money and artists become stars.

thats why when i opened my welfare box from ya’ll and discovered the simple but oh so meaningful items, all covered with stains from authentic stirgis road dawg juice, it touched me far more than anything given to me by many of the biggest stars in the industry. that shit is just that, shit! it don’t mean nuttin’, it’s business and something that record companies have their artists do and believe me a fortune is spent on getting airplay across America because without radio and us idiot dj’s spinning their tunes there will be no fame, no music sales, concert ticket and t-shirt sales and no career.

so, after many years of free record company and artist swag and so many temporary (record pig ) friends who truly couldn’t care less about me or my family what ya’ll did for me from your hearts, hearts as big as the rigs you drive, is one of the highlights of my career and something i’ll truly treasure until I’m old and lyin’ in my own piss in a va hospital bed, if the bastards will let me in. even though we don’t get to hang out on sirius anymore, i want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you more than you could ever know.

i wish one and all the best of everything in life and hope that i have the opportunity to ride with ya’ll again,
carl p. mayfield

1st Annual RDOH ride to Sturgis

DSC02689

Road Dogs on Hogs arrived at Sturgis Saturday night around midnight and had one heel of a great time!!

DSC02548

Jimmy the Junk-man and I packed our bikes and left my house in Mississippi early Wednesday morning. We had a great ride to Helena, AR to see my new grand baby and then went on up to Jonesboro, AR for the night. Thursday started with rain and we had to dig out the rain gear for a couple of hours.

DSC02549 DSC02550

We rode up hwy63 out of Arkansas into Missouri and grabbed hwy14. I have to tell ya, that was a great stretch of road to run. We lost a little time, but it was well worth it. The hills and curves were great to run. It was one of those roads that you fight with yourself over how fast to run….go slow and enjoy the scenery, or go fast and hang in the curves to get the adrenaline rush!!! We even stopped for a break at the White River and watch some Salmon swim up stream.

DSC02557

We arrived in Springfield, MO with time to spare before we had to meet Loose Nut, Strychnine, Bubble head, and Brit Brat. I took that time to visit some old friends. Then it was off to Clinton, MO to camp for the night. We met up with 96Ultra at his hotel before getting to our camp site. After putting up 3 tents in the dark we sat around and chatted for a while before hitting the sack.

The next day started about 0600 as we packed up our tents and headed out. We crossed into Kansas on hwy2 so we could miss the Kansas City traffic. 96 Ultra caught up to us in Ottawa, KS and we ran on over to hwy 99 and started north to Buzzards house. We arrived there late in the evening to a house full of people. Slider had flown in from Pennsylvania that afternoon and Derrick had ridden up from Lincoln, NE. Hugs went round and round. It was so cool to finally meet people that I have heard on Carl P., Freewheelin’, and Jonesey.

Saturday started out kind of crappy. Buzzard’s party wagon had a break problem and we were delayed for several hours. Finally we unloaded the party wagon into the back of the pickup and headed out of town around noon. We arrived in Mitchell, SD where Old Dog, Thumper, Mutt, were waiting on us. Once again, hug went round and the connections were made. We saddled up, 10 bikes, and 4 cages and headed west.

DSC02619

We arrived at the Iron Horse Campground around midnight. We had great fun in setting up that many tents in the dark, but you know how truck drivers are, we got it done. Everyone sat around a visited a bit and then hit the sack.

DSC02633

Sunday started with a trip to town. We did the bike walk down the street in the middle of town and went to the store to pick up all those things we all had forgotten. Then some came back to camp, some hit main street, and some went for a ride. Idaho Hunter showed up during the day and we got the phone calls from people that were going to be arriving later.

DSC02640

We all met back up at camp that evening and went to the bar to hear the Band and for some dancing and the Wet T-shirt contest. Congrats to Strychnine for winning! We danced and drank, and partied till about 0300 in the morning. That is when I was dropped on my head!! I hit the nape of my neck on the rim of a 5 gallon bucket! That kind of ended things for everyone. Truckin’ Up Chick and Jimmy walked me back to my tent, put ice on the back of my head, and put me to bed. Even with that in mind, it was a great day! But the next day you could tell who were the drunks from the night before and who stayed sober. The Sober people made a ride to Mont Rushmore and the drunks stayed in camp. Course,  I was made to go to the hospital to get my head checked out by Jimmy and Buzzard. As I told them, as long as I land on my head I will be OK! Hey I still got second place!

DSC02703

DSC02706

We even had a small bout with the weather on Tuesday evening. We call it Hurrican Meredith!! The wind and rain came in hard and fast. It laid our tents down and even snapped the pole of a couple of them. That night, many of us slept in water soaked tents and bed rolls.

DSC02821

All through the week we had people arriving and leaving, riding, partying, and just having great fun.

DSC02760

I don’t know how to put into words the feelings I have on how all of this has come together. I had a crazy idea and it has become everything I had hope it would. Don’t tell me that truck drivers can’t come together on anything. Don’t tell me that truck drivers can’t get along. Don’t tell me that there is no camaraderie in trucking anymore. Today, I see all that in our little group. We have truck drivers here from all over the country, from different backgrounds, and different aspects of trucking, and we had a great time!

DSC02782

Who knew that 30 people that listen to a trucking channel on a radio, who had never met before coming to Sturgis, could come together and have this much fun?! The world is a smaller place today because of these people and their love of trucks and motorcycles. Who says that truck drivers are not just one big family? I don’t! Because this group of gear jammers just proved them WRONG!

Counting the days!

OK,  don’t know about everyone else, but I am getting very excited with each passing day! We are 15 days to the kick off of Sturgis Bike week. I know some of ya’ll will be leaving in 12 to 14 days, but I am in hopes that I will be leaving in 11 days, July 30th.

I am truly amazed at the response we have gotten and the numbers of drivers/riders that had signed up to ride and camp with us while there. What started as a crazy idea, (so I thought), has turned into almost a major event for the drivers in the trucking industry. We have Truck Shows all over the country all year round. Never before have just the drivers tried to create an event for fun, outside of the trucking industry. They wont be any show trucks to shine and polish, (just your bike), there wont be any driver recruiters, no truck dealers trying to talk you into buying their truck, no people telling you how to make it in the trucking world or any other of the things you see at any other gathering of truck drivers.

For once, drivers are getting TOGETHER to HAVE FUN! If that doesn’t make you excited, I just don’t know what will!!! We have gone from a hand full of drivers saying they will be joining us a couple of months ago, to almost 30 drivers with family and friends, somewhere around 40 to 50 people so far, that are now saying they have their reservation at the Iron Horse campground. Isn’t that great!!

For me, it is a dream coming true. I have always wanted to go to Sturgis and I love meeting other drivers. We are going to have a great time and I look forward to meeting each and everyone that attends.

REMEMBER this, even if you can’t ride up on your bike, if ya get a load through the area, we will pick ya up at the truck stop of you can catch the shuttle and join us for a few hours or a few days. We will love to have ya there!

Poem by Bowtie Man

Road Dogs on Hogs to Sturgis

A gathering of Truckers,

Who enjoy their Bikes.

it’s a place called Sturgis,

we’re all going to like.

We live in other places,

some close and others far apart.

Here to see each others faces,

cause biking is in our Heart.

It will be a great ride,

Uniting truckers of our Nation.

Down the highways traveling with pride,

soon we’ll be having a great conversation.

Some say we tend to disagree,

I think we’ll prove you wrong.

Join us ,you’ll certainly see,

the Brotherhood alive and strong.

So in August the very first week,

with all the planning and plenty of urges,

this is the site we all seek,

Come one, Come All, Come to Sturgis.
