Our Beginning
With the invent of Satellite Radio came an opportunity that none could have forseen….drivers connecting. Through several shows on Sirius like “Freewheelin’”, “Carl P & the P Team”, “Jonesey” and many others, drivers have connected with one another and made many friends.
Road Dogs on Hogs is what became of this connection when one driver, Buzzard, reached out to another, White Rose, to fulfill a dream….to ride to Sturgis! As word spread about the trip, many other driver/riders expressed a desire to also join in the ride and the fun.
Being avid listeners to the trucking shows on Sirius,White Rose and Buzzard found that there were many drivers that also rode motorcycles. They talked about how great it would be to see how many drivers they could get to ride to Sturgis for the Rally and how that would promote some of the “old school” camaraderie between the drivers. We hear all the time about how drivers don’t help one another any more and can’t organize anything. Could they change that? Could they bring drivers together for something like this? Would everyone get along?
They had to try.
As they talked about it to other drivers and on-air, the interest grew. A MySpace page was set up and a month later the official web site. By the time the first week of August came and everyone made their way to Sturgis, there were around 20 drivers that had confirmed their attendance and many others that were hoping they could make it.
At the end of the rally week, 40+ drivers with family and friends had camped, partied, bonded, and rode the roads together. It was a success and everyone talked about doing it again the next year.
Our Purpose
- To promote camaraderie among drivers in the trucking industry.
- To share our love of trucks and motorcycles with others in the trucking industry.
- To bring the “old” and “new” school drivers together to share thoughts, ideas, and experiences.
- To promote the trucking lifestyle in a positive light.
- To just have some down right fun with other like minded people!
Our Vision
The “old timers” say that there is no camaraderie among drivers on the road any more. We hope to change that though our little group. Our hope is to make the world a smaller place and the roads more friendly, weather on 18 wheels or 2 wheels.
We hope to see drivers helping each other on the road, weather it is in taking a few minuets to help a driver that is broke down, needs directions, or just some one to talk to that understands the hardship of our lifestyle.
The dream, in the years to come, is to grow so big that we have to have our own campground and maybe, just maybe, one day create our own event! Not an event for industry vendors to promote and sell their products, but an event for fun. Drivers and/or riders to come together to relax, party, and meet others who share and understand what a truckers life is REALLY like!
