Gearing up for 2009

Well, it is almost that time of year again…..time to start gearing up for Sturgis. So all you “Road Dogs on Hogs” need to strat talking it up on the road and on the shows. We want to make sure that eveyone in the trucking industry knows that we are going to ride to Sturgis Bike Week and just how much fun it is going to be.

We have also set up a council now. These are the people that helped organize “Road Dogs on Hogs” and put many hours and dollars into making it want it was this year. These 7 people will be your point of contact for anything we do and for information on the ride, the rally, and any other information you may need to plan your trip.

White Rose in Mississippi
Buzzard in Nebraska
Harley Cowboy in the Texas Panhandle
Slider in Pennsylvania
Idaho Hunter in Washington/Idaho
Two Horses in Colorada

** For those that don’t ride a motorcycle, but want to join in on the fun, you are more than welcome to join us. The campgrounds we have picked allows bobtails.

Email from Carl P

As many of you know, the Road Dogs on Hogs sent a package to Carl P after we returned from Sturgis. That package included the shirt that Slider had made and we all signed, an American Flag from the PGR’s Field of Rememberance, and a RDOH patch. The following email was sent to Buzzard to pass along to the rest of us.

Buzzwad:

i want to reach out to you and our brothers and sisters and tell you that of all the rewards, broadcast career awards, the exciting things and exotic places i’ve been able to experience as a member of the radio community/media, the many gold, platinum albums hangin’ on the walls of my studio and home, along with other perks one in my position receives just because i can help make or break a career. I want you know how you touched me with your goodness and that all the swag I’ve collected over the years from the phonies on music row comes close to what ya’ll did for me without expecting something in return. when it comes to the music industry they don’t shower others or me with goodies because I’m a good man or any kind of hero. nope, my butt has been kissed by anybody making records in nashville coming up on almost 4 decades simply because I’ve been in the position to help the suits on music row make money and artists become stars.

thats why when i opened my welfare box from ya’ll and discovered the simple but oh so meaningful items, all covered with stains from authentic stirgis road dawg juice, it touched me far more than anything given to me by many of the biggest stars in the industry. that shit is just that, shit! it don’t mean nuttin’, it’s business and something that record companies have their artists do and believe me a fortune is spent on getting airplay across America because without radio and us idiot dj’s spinning their tunes there will be no fame, no music sales, concert ticket and t-shirt sales and no career.

so, after many years of free record company and artist swag and so many temporary (record pig ) friends who truly couldn’t care less about me or my family what ya’ll did for me from your hearts, hearts as big as the rigs you drive, is one of the highlights of my career and something i’ll truly treasure until I’m old and lyin’ in my own piss in a va hospital bed, if the bastards will let me in. even though we don’t get to hang out on sirius anymore, i want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you more than you could ever know.

i wish one and all the best of everything in life and hope that i have the opportunity to ride with ya’ll again,
carl p. mayfield
